The Specialty Vehicle Institute of America promotes safe and responsible use of All-Terrain Vehicles through rider training programs, public awareness campaigns and state legislation. You’ll reach heights of up to 65 feet and get stunning views of the canyon as you fly along nearly a mile of zip line. Lawson Adventure Park & Resort offers a do-it-all package where you can zip line, traverse granite cliffs (thanks to Colorado’s only private via ferrata), roll down the mountain inside a giant ball and finish your adventures by rafting on Clear Creek. Valuable work experience plus the opportunity to earn Wilderness First Responder, Swift Water Rescue, and Avalanche certifications puts our students ahead of the game. Warrior Adventure Quest combines high-adventure activities like rock climbing or zip lining, with leader-led after-action debriefs to help Soldiers move on after deployment. The worksite must notify and cooperate with their local public health agency on next steps. Riders also need bike handling skills and the ability to make basic repairs to their bikes. Advanced mountain bikers often attempt technical descents as well as some of the more intense styles of mountain biking, such as down hilling and free riding. Many styles of mountain biking are practiced, including all mountain, downhill, trials, dirt jumping, trail riding, and cross country. The classroom is named for the late Dr. Thomas Brigham, in honor of his legacy within the ski industry. Known as “The Father of Southern Skiing,” Brigham played a significant role in the development of Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain Resorts in North Carolina and Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia.
Physical preparation for trekking includes cycling, swimming, jogging and long walks. To ensure the safest experience possible it is generally a good idea to have some form of experience with basic survival skills, first aid, and orienteering when going for extended hikes or staying out overnight. It’s also expected that backpackers leave no trace while enjoying the outdoors.
